Taken
in Tingri on the three day drive from Kathmandu to Lhasa, the drive crosses
two high passes of 5000m and 5220m. Taking more than four days on the
drive is not possible due to the dangers of altitude sickness, even Lhasa
is at 3600meters and is the lowest point in the area and still at an altitude
that could cause altitude problems. Most people on arriving in Lhasa need
a few days before they feel able to do anything strenuous. |
